At Langton Howarth Ltd, we often make great hires happen globally from the UK. As we can’t meet you all in person due to current travel restrictions in place as we normally would at scientific trade shows and conferences, we thought you might to know more about the people in our team. There’s great personalities behind the placements we make and we’re super proud of our team, so here’s an insight into our Oliver Gill. Oliver is our Global Recruitment Manager and this is what he had to say in a Q&A session.. 

As a member of the team, what are your principal responsibilities?

As the dedicated Global Recruitment Manager, I am responsible for both key account development and candidate delivery on a Global level. My role is extremely varied and often involves speaking with both candidates and clients in different countries every single day which is very exciting!

What led you to a career in recruitment?

I have never considered myself to be academic and always knew that I would thrive in a role that would both challenge and reward me for my hard work. Working in Recruitment allows you to do exactly this and so much more!

What have been the most significant industry changes since the start of your career?

Since the start of my Recruitment career in 2015 I have seen massive advances in the Cell & Gene Therapy area. This is a very exciting field which is only going to continue growing at a rapid rate and will importantly help to save & improve people’s health & quality of life globally.

16 Years of success is a fantastic feat and LH is very proud to have achieved it – what was it that attracted you to LH?

Several factors attracted me to working for Langton Howarth. Two of the main ones were the open and honest culture and the support and mentorship that you receive each day.

What are your predictions for the future of the industry over the next 5 years?

In respect to the Life Sciences sector, I believe that the advancements in Artificial Intelligence will have a far-reaching & positive impact in areas such as drug development 

Which three of the world’s biggest brands do you admire the most and why?

1.    Tesla – Pioneers in the commercial electric car field

2.    Disney – Responsible for several of my favourite childhood films

3.    Budweiser – My favourite beer!

Which three people, dead or alive, would you invite to your fantasy dinner party? and why?

  1. Ricky Gervais – One of my favourite comedian’s and responsible for two of my favourite shows in Afterlife and The Office
  2. Elvis Presley – He is of course ‘ The King of Rock and Roll’ and would provide amazing entertainment
  3. Paul Gascoigne – The most naturally gifted English footballer ever and full of hilarious stories

Which three hobbies or interests help you to relax when you’re away from the office ?

  1. Gym / fitness training
  2. Gaming
  3. Spending time with friends and family
